I am a mother of three beautiful children, a wife to an amazingly charismatic man, a midwife of 10 years and a lover of documenting life in every shape and form. For as long as I can remember I have been intrigued and inspired by beautiful, connected and strong women in my life. I knew from an early age that I always wanted to be a supportive, holder of space for women as they journeyed through the emotional twists of growing and giving birth to new life. Have you ever felt a strong emotional connection to something unfolding but not truly understanding why? I would often watch as the dawn of a new day brought with it a new life and the overwhelming emotional connection I had to this powerful experience as light danced around and filled the room.
If you ever felt exited about embarking on a new journey or stage of your life that you wanted to hold onto and remember, you will have felt the intensity of emotion that only life can bring, I have often felt the need to document my life’s journey with vivacity and colour. In the early days I would write of our travels to bring our friends and family along for the ride. Then when I became a mother I felt that the lives of our children and all their little milestones, and the love within our family should be documented and celebrated; and writing was no longer enough. Thus was born my passion and love of photography and capturing the small fleeting experiences of love in life, as they unfold. The more photography became a central connection to my life, I realised a romance had developed with light and the way it could transport an image from a simple replication of a scene, to an emotional connection or trigger to a feeling or memory.
